046 Star Bright

download here 4/10/56 ****
A little girl is more than just intelligent. She can read minds and is the foundation for the next evolution. Reminds me of the girl in my Fourth grade class that was the teacher's pet and read the words for our spelling tests and was in the Fifth grade reading class. Well done story, originally written by Mark Clifton.
Reminded me of a few Twilight Zone episodes however much more cerebral. That's why some of these shows are better on the radio.
I agree- this was an excellent story. A few years ago I came across the original story which this was adapted from, and it's very faithful to the source. When I first heard it as a nipper, it enticed me into learning about things like tesseracts and Klein bottles. Sadly, I never progressed from there to the "bright" stage.
I believe, after hearing "Star Bright" once again (50 years after I first heard it and was deeply captivated by it,) that SF writer Ursula Le Guin MUST have heard this also as a child; I believe that "Star Bright" was the inspiration for her to write <A Wrinkle in Time> many years later. The similarities are astounding. Anyone else agree?
